Welcome To The World Memory
17 May 2007

Memory weighed in at 3.5kg (7.7 lbs) when she was brought into this world. I hear Maderyna is still in Rehoboth and will not be heading to the farm in Kalkrand, which is about 100km (62 miles or so) south of Rehoboth, until the early part of June. Although this mother and daughter are doing fine, the other mother and daughter combination still continues to have its issues. Ricky (from HPOM) referred to the relationship between Maderyna and her mother as being a bit "deurmekaar". Using my trusty Afrikaans translating machine, deurmekaar means "dazed, perplexed, upset"

Maderyna turns 16 tomorrow. Babies having babies.

Prayer is all anybody from here can offer. And I hope you keep all three in your prayers. It's not in our hands, but His.

Faith is the daring of the soul to go farther than it can see.

Faith notwithstanding, this is one soul who still wishes he had a stronger pair of binoculars.

Happy Birthday Chandre, Maderyna & Elaine
17 May 2007

Chandre turns 10 today. Her sister, Maderyna turns 16 tomorrow, and Elaine turns 13 on Saturday.

I'm not sure how big an event like a birthday is in Arandis. While I was there, I do remember one of the children had a birthday. I don't think she was a "HPOM child", but a daughter of Julianna and Richard; one of the HPOM families. Anyway, I don't recall anything special being done. It's just something else to think about I guess. Here, as children, many of us had the opportunity to have birthday parties with friends; there would be cake, ice cream, balloons, games and gifts.

I wonder what the impression of a child from Arandis would be if, for once, they got to experience a birthday celebration - American style.

What Matters

As you let God's design be worked out in you, you will see its impact in others and for generations.

Sometimes it's not about your ability to do something, but your availability to do it that is more important.

I should be much more afraid of being mistaken and then finding out that Christianity is true than of being mistaken in believing it to be true. (Pascal)
